Montréal International

As the second largest French-speaking city in the world after Paris, Montreal has earned its title as an international city, proudly displaying its roots and innovation. A world leader in a number of industries, including aeronautics, information technology, biotechnology, the city is also making waves for its innovations in medicine, multimedia and the arts, which has earned it the title of UNESCO City of Design in 2006, the first city in North America to receive this prestigious honour.

In 2007, Montréal was the first urban centre to sign the National Geographic Society’s Geotourism Charter. One look at our compact downtown that hums 24/7, with wonderfully preserved Old Montréal at its feet and beautifully landscaped Mount Royal Park as a backdrop, provides a hint.
